PennDOT Realtor® License Plate

Members of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® can apply for a special organization registration plate through PennDOT. Standard numbered and personalized plates are available. Each Realtor® license plate includes a donation to the Foundation for Housing Opportunity.

How to Apply

To apply for the special organization license plate, you will need the following information:

• Vehicle information (title number, registration plate number, etc.)
• PA Driver’s License number, photo ID number or business ID number

A personalized plate may be requested for an additional fee. Up to three choices can be provided. Use PennDOT’s Personalized Registration Plate Availability Tool to see if a personalized number is available.

What to Expect

1. Submit the application, including any personalization requests and your payment information.
2. Finalize your application using the instructions you receive in your email.
3. PAR processes the application and payment. Please note: PAR processes applications twice per month.
4. PennDOT receives the application and produces the plate.
5. The plate will arrive in your mailbox approximately 6-8 weeks after PennDOT receives your application.

When will I receive my plate?

PAR sends applications to PennDOT twice per month. Once PennDOT receives the applications, they produce the license plates. The plate will arrive in your mailbox approximately 6-8 weeks from when PennDOT receives your application.

How long does the license plate application process take?

PAR batch processes applications and payments twice per month. They are then sent to PennDOT for production. The plate will arrive in your mailbox approximately 6-8 weeks after PennDOT receives your application.

My registration is due soon. What should I do?

If your registration is due soon (or you just renewed your registration), do not let your registration lapse. Purchasing the Realtor® plate does not automatically renew your vehicle registration. The one-time fee covers the cost of the new plate, not the annual registration fee.

If your registration expires within the next few months, we recommend that you renew your registration before applying for the Realtor® plate.

Can I personalize the license plate?

Yes! You can choose your own numbers or personalize the plate. An additional $135 fee is required for personalization. The total cost of a personalized Realtor® license plate is $200.

Three personalization choices can be added to your application in the event that your top choice is not available. Use PennDOT’s Personalized Registration Plate Availability Tool to see if a personalized number is available.

I have a Person with Disability license plate. Can I get a Realtor® plate that also has the Person with Disability insignia?

PennDOT does not offer specialty plates with the Person with Disability insignia. However, you can apply for the Realtor® plate and apply for a Person with Disability placard, which hands on the rearview mirror. This will afford you the same parking privileges as a Person with Disability plate while still promoting your role as a Realtor®. Visit the PennDOT website and download form MV-145A to apply for the placard.

Do I need to be a member of PAR to get this plate?

Yes. The Realtor® license plate is only available for active Pennsylvania Realtors®.

Following PennDOT guidelines, if you receive a Realtor® license plate and cease PAR membership, you need to return the registration plate along with Form MV-44 and submit the $13 fee for the issuance of a regular series registration plate.
