About this Course

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the key principles and methodologies involved in valuing residential properties. Market, site and building analysis will be explored as well as introducing the basic principles of property valuation. Participants will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to value residential properties confidently and accurately, enabling them to provide the best possible advice to their clients.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the basic principles of valuation, such as highest and best use, supply and demand and increasing/decreasing returns.
  • Discuss market types and the forces that affect property values.
  • Explain what factors impact a neighborhood, site or building analysis.
  • Explain the rationale for the direct sales comparison approach of valuation.
  • Identify the legal and economic considerations taken into account when valuing property.
