More than one in 10 homeowners will upgrade their home security this year, according to a survey by Vivint, a home security and smart home company. And two in five homeowners already own a security system.
The survey found that one in four homeowners believe they’d feel more sechttps://www.vivint.com/ure with an AI-enhanced security system and 67% were willing to pay $160 more for a security system that has AI capabilities versus a system that does not.
The top reasons why homeowners cited AI-integrated security systems were preferred: remote monitoring (74%), facial recognition (62%), faster response times (56%), voice activation (55%) and voice recognition (55%).
Generation made a difference in responses, with younger adults (Gen Z and millennials) 23% more willing to pay a higher premium for AI enhancements compared to other generations.
However, 60% of homeowners believe AI-integrated systems are vulnerable to hacking and one in six is against facial recognition in home security systems.
When asked if they would consider installing an AI-powered home security system, 37% said they would definitely consider it, 47% were unsure and 16% said no.
