RAYAC Realtors® produce 'happy' video

The real estate business is good in York and Adams counties… and that makes Realtors® happy.

The Realtors® Association of York and Adams Counties (RAYAC) created a video showing just how happy they are.

RAYAC President Paula Musselman said the video, which debuted at the local association’s annual meeting, was the result of positive energy from RAYAC members.

“This entire year is about all about professionalism,” Musselman said. “RAYAC has worked to build professionalism among its members. I’ve really tried to stress that even though we’re competitors, we’re still partners and we set the tone for the transaction. I’ve encouraged members to work together and get these transactions done. And that ultimately we should be happy that the market’s coming back.”

And that inspired her to create a ‘happy’ video featuring Realtors® and the popular Pharrell Williams “Happy” song.

RAYAC’s Executive Officer Steve Snell initially wasn’t aware of the “Happy” video phenomenon on YouTube but once he saw other organizations’ videos, he was sold. “I think Paula has helped our organization lighten up. She’s showed us that we can work hard and still have fun,” he said.

RAYAC hired a professional video production company and it took two days to record. “We traveled to as many offices as we could. We had an appraiser, an inspector, title companies and lenders. We went from the bridge to the battlefield,” Musselman said. “Everyone was great – some offices went to a lot of trouble to get ready and when we left, they were still clapping, smiling and singing. There was such a comradery.”

Since the video hit RAYAC’s annual meeting earlier this week, Musselman has received texts, emails and calls with praises about the video. “They just loved it and they’re still buzzing about it two days later. The video has inspired even those who were not in it to think and be happy,” she added.

“The thing is, I’m constantly amazed at the number of hours our members volunteer to help our association and the industry,” she said. “We have a tremendous organization and people who really want to be involved and help. This is turning out to be a great year and we’ll keep the momentum going!”
