Paul J. Rodriguez with HomeSmart Realty Advisors in Philadelphia was named Top Realtor® by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
The award is given to the Realtor® who has sold the most loans through PHFA’s partnering lenders.
“The award was unexpected,” said Rodriguez. “PHFA loans are something I promote with my clients and have been for years.”
A Realtor® for 16 years, Rodriguez said he works frequently with Spanish clients, many of who are low-income.
“I push these programs to people to take advantage of them,” he said. “It can help these buyers become homeowners. I thank God for it, it has been a blessing.”
Rodriguez said he has many clients come to him via word-of-mouth, as they have heard he has helped their cousin or their neighbor buy a home, something they never thought would be realistic for them.
“They see I truly care about making family homeowners and that it is achievable. Often, they think it’s not possible for them if they are low-income. I give them as much knowledge as I have and I think that goes a long way,” he said. “It’s been blessing. These PHFA programs are putting families into homes.”
“My goal is to impact the community I was raised in,” he added. “It gives families hope, if someone else can do it, it builds a camaraderie. It builds homeownership. What I try to preach is why rent when rent is so high? Mortgages can be a lot lower. Savings could go to other things and that money goes back into community. It comes full circle. I want to thank PHFA for all their efforts and all these programs. The impact they have, I see it day and day out. It makes me so proud to be a part of this program.”
