Pennsylvania Realtor® Named NAR Good Neighbor Award Winner

Heather Griesser LaPierre of RE/MAX Preferred Newtown Square has been named a winner in NAR’s 2022 Good Neighbor Awards.

Griesser LaPierre, the founder of Kids Against Hunger Philadelphia, will receive a $10,000 grant for her organization, be featured in the fall 2022 issue of Realtor® Magazine and will also be presented with a crystal trophy at NAR NXT in November.

Griesser LaPierre sought to help alleviate hunger both in her own community and worldwide. Seven years ago, she began Kids Against Hunger Philadelphia and through the help of countless volunteers, they pack nutritious meals for children. When schools shut down for the pandemic, Kids Against Hunger didn’t back down, instead they doubled production to 350,000 meals per month to make sure kids who relied on school lunches were still fed. Volunteers work seven days a week to make sure everything gets done. Griesser LaPierre herself spends some time every single day there, in addition to a busy real estate career. The center has packed more than 9 million meals since its’ inception.

In addition to Griesser LaPierre, Debbie McCabe of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors® and the Trident Group in Devon will receive a $2,500 grant for receiving a Good Neighbor Award honorable mention for Covenant House Pennsylvania, which houses and empowers young people facing homelessness. Kathy Opperman of Long & Foster Collegeville will also receive a $2,500 grant for Pillars of Light and Love, which has offered 800 free workshops and support groups to build self-esteem and resilience in adults and kids. In addition to an honorable mention, Opperman was one of three winners of the Web Choice Favorites, which allowed the public to vote on their Good Neighbor Award finalists, and earned her charity an additional $2,500.

“We’re incredibly proud that three of the Realtors® honored for their work are from Pennsylvania,” said Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® President Christopher Beadling. “The work these women are doing is truly amazing and they’re making a real difference and improving lives in their communities. They’ve volunteered countless hours and raised large amounts of funds for their charities.”
