These are unprecedented times. Many of us are completing our fourth week of working virtually, trying to serve our clients and continuing to move our businesses forward.
PAR persists in advocating for you and your clients at every level. The leadership team, as well as staff, are reaching out to the governor’s office and the Department of State, asking for clarification of the most recent guidelines issued on Wednesday. We’ve found several discrepancies in the memo, which only create more confusion and we recognize that the March 6 date has left many transactions in limbo. We are asking for clarification, which has not yet been issued.
PAR is working with a coalition of organizations that represent the housing industry so that we can jointly have conversations with the governor’s office on how to move forward. PAR and these organizations want to be part of the discussion as we come out of this crisis to ensure that we have safety standards in place to protect the public as well as our members. No one understands the real estate transaction better than our members and we need to have a voice in these discussions.
The state’s Department of Labor and Industry still has not provided information or opened the application process for independent contractors to apply for unemployment compensation. As soon as the information is available, we will make sure our members are aware of the process.
We understand how the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted your business and how important it is to provide you with current information as it becomes available. PAR is updating its website as soon as information becomes available.
As we go through this week and enter the weekend, I would urge us all to reflect on what matters the most to us, our families, our health, our faith and our communities. As Realtors® we have faced some difficult times in the past and we will continue to persevere through these challenging times and succeed.
