Making your social media work for you
Is your social media working for you?
“I am blown away by how few Realtors® use LinkedIn, and if they do use it, they don’t use it in a way that can grow their business,” said Karen Yankovich, a social media marketing consultant that will present at next month’s Triple Play in Atlantic City. “Even if you are not looking to using it as a marketing tool, use it to stand apart from your competition.”
How can Realtors® use LinkedIn and stand out? First, Yankovich advises making a strong profile that shows you are a leader in the community and the real estate industry.
“Mention whatever niche you have, if you focus on luxury or first-time homebuyers, mention it. LinkedIn comes up on Google searches, so make sure you use keywords, like the towns you represent. Use key words strategically, so when people are searching, your profile comes up,” she said.
Yankovich also suggested connecting with others in the industry, like those who work with mortgages and title companies. And most importantly, Yankovich said reach out to local journalists and reporters who cover real estate in your area. This is a great way to gain exposure by offering your opinions and advice from your experience, and receiving essentially free advertising. “There are a lot of writers looking for quotes on real estate, incorporate yourself to be asked,” she said.
“If you look like a big deal on LinkedIn, then connecting with those kinds of people can be valuable for your business,” added Yankovich.
Beyond LinkedIn, Yankovich said Realtors® have to be more strategic on social media. “What are you doing to position yourself as an influence? Become an ambassador to your community. Incorporate the community into your social media, people in the community want to know whats happening and you need to expand your social media beyond just promoting your listings. People will share posts about the community, and then you will get more engagement.”
“If you’re looking to get more visibility for your business, you have to be where people’s eyes are,” she said. “And their eyes are on their phones. Don’t waste time on social media with no strategies. Turn that visibility into paying customers.”
Yankovich will present on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Catch Using LinkedIn for More Listing and More Buyers from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Get More Business Using Social Media & PR from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
