Maintaining an online image and keeping your data secure

“The best way to get business and to engender people to you is to be yourself. I wish more people would be just that,” said Melissa Case, a consultant to the real estate industry.

Case added that it’s “nonsense” that Realtors® think there is a specific way they are “supposed to act online.”

Case is full of information and advice for Realtors and will be sharing her knowledge this Friday at NAR’s Tech Edge in Harrisburg. Case will be presenting twice that day, “Polish Your Online Experience” and “Making the Most of Working Mobile.”

“We’re going to have a great time,” said Case. In her first session, “Polish Your Online Experience,”  Case plans to talk about the different things Realtors® can do to shape up your online presence, as well as “dispel a bunch of misconceptions about the things you should and shouldn’t do online,” she said.

In “Making the Most of Working Mobile,” Case plans to cover cover what it means to be a mobile worker. She will discuss apps and the like that help make Realtors’® lives easier, keep your data secure, stay in touch with your team, as well as some tips for staying focused, she said.

“When it comes to working remotely via mobile devices, security is a big deal. What if you leave your smartphone in a cab? What about all of the sensitive data you have about your clients, their finances, everything about them? What happens if you lose control of that? Having a system that allows you to handle sensitive information and retain control of it, even if you lose your device, is of paramount importance,” she said.

Tech Edge will be “a great day of tech-fueled goodness,” she said. “I hope everyone leaves with great ideas about how to make the most of their business, more easily, and in less time. And also know that it’s OK to have some fun while they’re doing it.”

Case is a former Realtor®, is now the corporate blog manager for Citrix. She still does consulting work for the real estate industry, writing for realtor.com, Zillow, Trulia, dotloop, NAR, RPR, 1000Watt Consulting, Altos Research, Revaluate, Curaytor, amongst others.
