Harrisburg Area Realtor® Receives Icon Award

Art Campbell, founder and president of Campbell Commercial Real Estate in Lemoyne, recently received the Central Penn Business Journal Icon Honors award, along with 22 other honorees in the central Pennsylvania area.

The award honors people 60 and older who have left “an indelible mark on their chosen fields.” Campbell, who founded the firm in 1984, first got his start in the industry after graduating from Penn State University. “I took a job managing an apartment complex in State College, I then began managing multiple complexes and kept managing more. Then, I became a partner in a company in State College through managing multifamily and commercial properties,” he said. He then opted to open his own commercial real estate firm in central Pennsylvania, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Throughout his long career, Campbell has worked with many types of clients, but he said his favorite scenarios are putting businesses in new locations.

“I love to help businesses with their vision, see their goals come to life and see people from a start-up business grow to a multi-million dollar business. It is really satisfying. Having been in the business as long as I have, I have seen several of those stories,” said Campbell. “We’ve had great years in the business, and I hope it would continue to be the same. We help some of those businesses from multiple locations and states grow.”

However, commercial real estate is not always a successful endeavor, Campbell said it’s always a work in progress. “It takes a long time to build clientele. And the business is ever-changing. Learn as much as you can,” he suggested.

Being in the first class of the CPBJ’s Icon Honors was “humbling,” said Campbell, noting the other honorees’ accomplishments. Yet, Campbell has received no shortage of awards himself, including an Outstanding Commitment Award from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2014, a Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors’® Realtor® of the Year award and Professional Merit/Lifetime Award winner and the the Business Achievement Award from the West Shore Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s been a wonderful career since I started my own firm 35 years ago. There’s nothing I would change, and that is extremely satisfying. I continue to look forward to going to work everyday and accomplishing the goals I set so long ago,” added Campbell.
