Allentown is the fifth best place to buy an affordable mansion, according to Realtor.com.
Large houses with roomy yards are appealing to many buyers, but big homes come with big price tags. Realtor.com analyzed data from across the country to find the best places to find “affordable mansions,” which they define as homes that exceed 5,000 square feet and cost less than one million dollars.
Two percent of Allentown’s single-family home listings fit Realtor.com’s affordable mansion standards. For example, one of the site’s listings features a 5,100-square-foot home on three-quarters of an acre in the area, priced at $750,000. The home includes four bedrooms, 3.5 baths, an eat-in kitchen with two ovens, a sunken family room and wood-burning fireplace and a sunroom with natural light.
Located in the Lehigh Valley, the Allentown metro area is equal parts rich history and revitalized downtown attractions.
“The Lehigh Valley’s economic development has been a catalyst to attracting so many to the area, especially buyers looking for luxury housing compared to areas within close proximity from New York City or Philadelphia,” Chris Raad, 2021 PAR president and member of Greater Leigh Valley Realtors®, says. “Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton are home to vibrant downtowns with excellent restaurants and shops making for a great quality of life with a reasonable cost of living.”
