With spring around the corner, it might be time to think about boosting your curb appeal. Whether you’re looking to sell or just want a refresh, here are some ways to use 2025’s colors of the year to make your home’s exterior look its best.
For a bold exterior, Valspar’s Encore may be the way to go. Jackie Mosher, co-founder of the virtual design platform Dzinly, and Bella Baldwin, Dzinly designer, suggested to NAR readers that the striking dark blue be painted on the cladding, paired with an Ultra White trim and a Cedar Naturaltone door. See the color palette here.
“For exteriors, Encore shines as a front door color on modern facades, which can add a vibrant twist to a red, white and blue colonial,” they write. “It also can serve as an energetic cladding color when paired with warm, orangey wood tones and bright whites for balance. This color will make a statement wherever it’s used.”
Benjamin Moore, Cinnamon Slate
If you’re looking for a pop of color that’s subtle, Dzinly writers recommend Benjamin Moore’s Cinnamon Slate, which is a combination of plum and brown. They suggest a color palette where Stone Cutter is painted on the siding, the trim is in Calm and the front door is Cinnamon Slate.
“Cinnamon slate can elevate curb appeal on exteriors, especially as a front door color pop,” they write. “Pair it with whites that have hints of gray, like Benjamin Moore’s Cloud White or Calm, or with deeper hues, like Stone Cutter or Kendall Charcoal, for a contrasting look. It also pairs well with warm neutrals and soft greiges, such as Revere Pewter or Gray Owl, for a balanced and inviting exterior palette.”
Mosher and Baldwin note that Purple Basil, a deep purple that’s warm and elegant, can be a standout choice for those seeking a color that’s both bold and refined. This color can be striking on a front door or bolder as a cladding color.
For a more subdued palette, they recommend Purple Basil on the door, Kalispell on the siding and Cotton Tail on the trim.
Sherwin Williams, 2025 Color Capsule
In case you missed it, Sherwin Williams announced nine colors of the year for 2025, creating a cohesive collection of neutral and muted shades. While there are countless ways to mix and match these colors to boost curb appeal, Mosher and Baldwin give an example palette including Rain Cloud siding, White Snow trim and a pop of Chartreuse on the front door.
For a combination that evokes more of a rustic, mountainous charm, they suggest using shades like Grounded, Malabar and Bosc Pear.
