Study Shows Commonly Misspelled Words on LinkedIn Profiles

Your LinkedIn profile is a powerful tool to reach potential clients. It might be time for a review because first impressions matter – especially online.

Most view a LinkedIn profile as your resume, portfolio, cover letter and work “Facebook” profile all in one. That means it can really make a difference if there are grammar and spelling mistakes in your profile.

Preply analyzed LinkedIn profiles across 25 industries to investigate the top misspellings and grammar mistakes people in the U.S. make.

They found in the real estate industry, the most commonly misspelled word is “accuqire.” Ironically, the number 4 top misspelled word is “relator.”

“LinkedIn is an excellent platform for networking with potential clients and brokerages, especially in connection-centric fields like real estate. And for many, LinkedIn is the first foray into understanding the professional decorum of a potential employer or employee. This is why it is so important to ensure that our social media is up-to-standard, even with seemingly small details like spelling and grammar,” said Matt Zajechowski from Preply. “We only get one chance to make a good first impression, so treating our LinkedIn profiles and every new post we write as potential ‘first impressions,’ can help us feel empowered to advance professionally knowing that we are putting our best foot forward.”

Other commonly misspelled words include “acheived,” “achive,” “assoications,” “buisness,” “commerical,” “commericial,” “coneieve,” “devlpmnt,” “disapointed,” “econcomic,” “experince,” “knowledgable,” “managment,” “morgage,” “photogapher,” “successfull,” “sucessfully” and “transistioning.”

The most misspelled words on LinkedIn are management, programming and I’m. In addition, commonly misspelled as “entreprenuer” and “enterpreneur,” entrepreneur is the most misspelled word across the 25 specific industries analyzed.
