City & State PA Recognizes PAR in Government Relations Power 100 List
City & State PA named PAR’s CEO Mike McGee in the top 10 of its Government Relations Power 100 list this week. The list recognizes professionals who operate at the intersection of politics and policy by working with elected officials at the municipal, county, state and federal levels to help inform legislation that benefits both their organizations and Pennsylvanians.
“As much as I appreciate this recognition, this award isn’t about just one person. It highlights the work of PAR’s advocacy team, under the direction of Chief Advocacy Officer Sherri Martin, along with Advocacy Managers Jeff Dempsey and Marcus Huertas, PAR’s field staff, and their tremendous partnership and collaboration with the local associations and their government affairs directors, as well as our leadership team and 39,000 members, all working together to achieve the association’s mission,” McGee said. “It’s an honor to represent the Realtor® organization as we strive to protect private property rights and homeownership.”
Other organizations recognized in the top 10 include: the Pennsylvania State Education Association, Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, Pennsylvania Association for Justice, Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, AFSCME Council 13 and Pennsylvania Bar Association.
“PAR’s grassroots advocacy efforts have expanded to support our policy objectives and last year’s Realtors® Day on the Hill shows the success we can have when Realtors® advocate on the Hill,” he added. “Having the Pennsylvania General Assembly finally recognize 1031 like-kind exchanges was certainly a key victory for Realtors®, consumers, investors and businesses.”
PAR’s legislative efforts are also strengthened by the record-setting fundraising efforts of the Realtors® Political Action Committee. “With so many members recognizing the value and investing in RPAC, the Realtor® organization was able to support Realtor®-friendly candidates in local and state elections. Last year, RPAC was able to positively impact several elections across the state to help elect pro-Realtor® candidates into Congress and the General Assembly,” McGee added.
