Cheryl Knowlton is ready to “light the room on fire” at December’s Triple Play Convention and Trade Expo.

“I work really hard as an educator and broker to light the fire on learning, whether you are brand new or have been in the industry 50 years, we all have something to learn,” said Knowlton.

“It’s what excites me about real estate,” she added. “We are going to walk away from these classes with tools on how to stay relative. There are so many companies who are working so hard to get between us and

consumers. And that is a problem that agents didn’t have when I started 22 years ago. These companies have billions of dollars in capital trying to get between us and consumers. We have to be all the more educated, diligent and professional to connect with and remain relevant for today’s consumer.”

However, a lack of professionalism is the biggest mistake she sees in Realtors®. “We are going to create together and define professional in today’s profession,” she said. “And learn what characteristics today’s agent needs to have to remain relevant. If we are energized, on fire and excited to serve our clients, they will know that from our energy.”

In today’s market, lots of energy is needed. Knowlton will talk about how to present sellers with all of their offers without invoking fair housing bias. “We make emotionally based decisions and backfill with logic and we don’t want to ask our seller to do that. We, as the professional, want to bring as much logic as possible. Math is unemotional and doesn’t lie. At the end of the day, our job is to help the seller net the most amount of money possible.”

“Agents attending will walk out of there with the tools they need to know what is going to work in this market. Agents are pulling every tool out of the toolbox they can and using outdated tools and they can walk away with these new tools and use immediately.”

Knowlton will present Beyond the Transaction: The Impact of Agency from the Client’s Perspective on Monday, Dec. 6 from 12 to 3 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. until noon. She will also present Risky Business: Risk Management Strategies for Today’s Real Estate Professionals on Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 2 to 5 p.m. and Feeling the Love: Fair Housing and Buyer Lover Letters on Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. until noon.
