Legislation Introduced to Continue Livestream Education
Legislation that will allow real estate education to be offered via livestream permanently has been introduced in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. House Bill 1849 was introduced by Rep. Todd Polinchock (R-Bucks), a Realtor® and past PAR president, and it will amend the Real Estate Licensing and Registration Act to allow for livestream education.
Real estate licensees currently are able to complete education credits through livestream learning methods under waivers first issued by the Department of State during the pandemic and extended by the General Assembly in June. This latest waiver extension is set to expire on Sept. 30.
PAR is advocating for swift passage of the legislation when the General Assembly returns to session later this month.
The Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission is supportive of allowing livestream education to continue permanently and is including this change in a revision to their general regulations. The general revision currently is moving through the regulatory process. Amending RELRA will allow livestream learning methods to continue while the commission works through this process.
