Butler County Realtors® to Appear on HGTV Show
For those lucky enough to win the lottery, many go on to purchase a new home.
HGTV turned it into a reality television show, My Lottery Dream Home, with host and designer David Bromstad. For two Pennsylvania Realtors®, it was their dream to get to be real estate advisors on the show. Andrea and Eric McIntosh of Sarver in Butler County recently filmed an episode of the show, which will air tonight, Friday, at 9 p.m. on HGTV. On the show, a lottery winner sets their budget and tours three homes before choosing one with the help of Bromstad.
“I thought it was a scam when I got the voicemail from HGTV,” said Andrea McIntosh of the initial contact. However, her husband encouraged her to call them back and sure enough, it was the real deal.
“The woman who won the lottery didn’t have an agent, and since they were interested in one of our listings, they brought us on as local real estate experts,” she explained. “It was the first time I’ve experienced anything like this, I don’t normally like being the center of attention, but I felt really calm on camera and they didn’t make us do any retakes, they told us we nailed it on the first try.”
“I was so excited to do it,” she added. “I have always loved HGTV and grew up watching it. It was surreal to be filming for them.”
McIntosh explained that all of the conversations were organic and nothing was scripted. She said Bromstad was “fantastic” to work with and just as nice off-camera.
“It was mind-blowing,” she added. “It was so cool to see something that big and well-known in our area. The whole cast and crew was so down-to-earth and nice.”
However, the couple had to keep their show a secret publicly until given permission, which was difficult, but they were able to tell family and close friends, which brought a lot of excitement, she said.
“My mom and mother-in-law were beside themselves because they love David [Bromsad],” added McIntosh. “It was definitely surreal and we’re really humbled and blessed for this opportunity. It was definitely a high point in our career.”
