Governor highlights the state's economy at PAR Inaugural
Pennsylvania’s outlook is positive and the best days are ahead according to Gov. Tom Corbett, who addressed several hundred Realtors® at the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® (PAR) annual inaugural banquet last night in Harrisburg.
Corbett, who installed 2014 PAR President Kim Skumanick, spoke briefly on the state of the Commonwealth. He said Pennsylvania’s economy is growing, industry is expanding in many areas of the state and there are more jobs. “I would imagine that more homes are selling because of the changing dynamics of the state,” he said.
Corbett said the state legislature has been doing good work and added that Realtors® should encourage their legislators to continue to move forward. “It’s tough to get change in Pennsylvania but we’re slowly beginning to embrace change,” he added.
He noted that businesses are relocating from other states and that Pennsylvania is growing due to the gas industry.
Corbett commented on one of PAR’s current legislative issues, school property tax reform. He said while real estate property taxes were too high in many areas, bills addressing this issue should be revenue neutral. He also highlighted pension reform, one of his priorities.
