Howard Hanna chair receives RISMedia National Homeownership Award
PAR member Howard W. “Hoddy” Hanna III, chair and chief executive officer of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, was honored with the 2009 RISMedia National Homeownership Award last week at RISMedia’s Annual Power Broker Dinner. Held during the annual NAR Conference & Expo in San Diego, the Power Broker Dinner honors the industry’s top brokers, as determined by the results of RISMedia’s annual Power Broker Report and Survey.
Hanna, who runs the fourth-largest full-service real estate company in the U.S., was awarded the honor for continuously demonstrating extraordinary contributions toward increasing homeownership and building better communities.
“I’m honored to receive this award,” Hanna said. “It’s been my life’s work to help people achieve the dream of homeownership. Sometimes we in the industry forget that we help people create their dreams every day. It’s really the best industry to be in because of the work we do.
“This past year has been a unique time and harder to help people create that dream but I still believe that homeownership is the most important purchase in people’s lives,” he added.
Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services was started by Hanna’s parents in 1957. The company specializes in residential, commercial, mortgage, title and insurance brokerage services, has 131 offices in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and New York and more than 4,700 sales associates and staff.
Hanna is the sixth industry icon to receive the award. Others include: Ron Peltier; chair and CEO, HomeServices of America; Dave Liniger, founder and chair, RE/MAX International; J. Lennox Scott, chair and CEO, John L. Scott Real Estate; Gino Blefari and Robert Moles, founders, Intero Real Estate Services; and Alex Perriello, president and CEO, Realogy Franchise Group.
